LIST PICK

TIñA GOLDEN ROPE

Hurtling towards the release of their hotly-tipped debut album Positive Mental Health Music, South London guitar slingers and Speedy Wunderground signings Tiña have shared their galloping new single 'Golden Rope'. Following previous List Picks 'Dip' and 'Rosalina', 'Golden Rope' is a full-throttle slice of warped indie-rock that fights against its somber subject matter of contemplating suicide. Featuring huskily harmonised backing vocals by Goat Girl's Lottie Cream, thundering toms pummel propulsively as jangly guitars mingle chaotically with fairground-inspired keys sounds. 'Golden Rope' arrives alongside an equally manic video, directed by vocalist and songwriter Josh Loftin, which sees the band donning cerise gowns and gallivanting on the beach as the grim reaper lingers. Loftin explained: “I took a pot of ideas and symbols from the band and rushed an idea together in the park under a tree. I tried to soak up the song on the walk there. It’s a mix of things such as my personal practice in meditation, the feeling of nature’s impression on me and then the everyday of smoking, drinking and being silly. It’s kind of saying, you might meditate in a robe on the beach and later get drunk and smoke but you’re still holy and beautiful regardless... don’t forget that!” -Holly Mullineaux
